Not a bad idea, but I think it's use has been out-matched with a mod already. I cannot remember the name but it accepts input from one side, and spits it out to the opposite side.

You right click it to set the direction and it remains UNI-directional.

The input and output can be either a chunk that stores it I.e. chest or dispenser, or free-floating chunks, like at a mob grinder.

If the piston mod gets implemented then this block mod gets added, you could have self harvesting farms all over the place! Hmm...I might see about duplicating my minecraft.exe launcher at home so that I can experiment...hmmm (duplicate so that I have an untouched launcher for CF of course)
