UK Riots

As some of you may have noticed, riots in the capital city London have taken place over the past 3 days. And now are spreading to other cities but mainly Birmingham.
The first riot stemmed from a protest march, but seems to have been a collection of gangs using the protest as a cover. Now they have realized how easy it is to overwhelm the authorities they are running amok.

They are English Riots not UK Riots. English News always states things are UK when its England and when its say Scotland they say "Scottish Riots".
Same happens if say a Scottish person does well in sports/etc, its then a UK victory, yet if the person is English then its an English victory only.
There are no Riots in Scotland or Wales, as such they can not be called UK Riots as it is not UK Wide. -

Edinburgh* , Glasgow is larger but Edinburgh is the Capital. It is worse if things happen in Edinburgh due to it being the Capital, where the Scottish Parliament is, so it would look worse for the Scottish government if it happens in there back yard(Hence why the current Riots in London make the government look really bad).
Wonder if there will be more riots tomorrow or if the government will actually do something (Other than be on holiday). -
Apparently some rioters attacked the Birmingham Childrens Hospital too, which is just disgraceful

About the Hospital, Apparently the Police station next to the hospital was firebombed and so the fire spread to the hospital.

Technically, we're all part of the UK. It might be true that these are localized to England, but you're just splitting hairs there. If the EU goes tits up, we're screwed like the rest of Europe, but we're not Ireland, or Greece... -
And yet you guys call us Scandinavians crazy? I'd say you Brits are pretty darn crazy too!
I hope it calms down before they do too much damage. Although, it's looking to be pretty bad already, if I can judge by the pictures with fires in them. -
The Children's Hospital in Birmingham is across the road from the courts as well as a police station. I think there was an attempt at a two for one attack there.

We are only screwed if the single currency countries fail because of the fact we trade with them. So our businesses could go under as a result. It has nothing to do with the fact we are a member of the EU, countries outside of Europe that trade with them will be effected (All countries in the world would be effected due to global trade, but to a different degree).

England is a part of the EU, yet they don't call the riots European because they are not, they are limited to one country. So your point is null and void about labelling.(The fact Americans think Britain is called England is a different matter)
England is not the whole of the UK, its one of 3 countries in the UK. Things are only UK wide when they effect more than one country in the UK, problems limited to one Country are that Countries problems.

- We're in the UK, and are seen as a mostly single entity outside of it. Wales had a chance to take some power away from Westminster and passed on it. Scotland is as best positioned to devolve as ever, and opinion polls seem to suggest they don't want to. As far as the rest of the world are concerned, we're the UK, deal with it.
I only brought this up because I'm sick of pissy little Scottish football fans and elitist Englishmen making the distinction just for the sake of argument. The UK is smaller than most American states, why should they care about which part of it is rioting, any more than people in Northern England should care about which specific part of London the riots are happening in. It's a perspective thing.
And they don't arm the police with better weapons because, whether it happens or not, someone will accuse them of abusing their power, and the more deadly that power, the worse the abuse. -
Alot of Americans think the UK is called England, that doesn't mean that the BBC should start calling the nation England beagrie.
Looks like the BBC may have had complaints about it as they had "English Riots" as the tag on the news recently.
Note that the BBC is a British News Organisation (Hence the first B in BBC) and as such they should know the difference between UK and England.As far as the rest of the world are concerned, we're the UK, deal with it.
I have never stated what foreign media should call it, only what media companies based in the UK should call it.

If you live somewhere other then England long enough you will notice how the Media biased to England. This annoys people who are not English.
Media should either always state UK when there is problems/etc or state specific countries.
By your logic it should be called a World Riot. Why care which part of the world is rioting and how much of that group is rioting. The size of the UK compared to an American state is meaningless.It's a perspective thing.
Well the public is crying out for them to do something other than watch the looters burn cities. When you have the public go out on the streets to defend there cities then you should know you have there support to actually do something.And they don't arm the police with better weapons because, whether it happens or not, someone will accuse them of abusing their power, and the more deadly that power, the worse the abuse.
There will always be people saying they abused power, but its far better to act and save the cities future than to sit back and watch them burn. I have yet to find anyone who thinks that giving the police the tools (I.E Rubber Bullets) to defend cities is a bad idea for this situation. -
