A few of you may have already caught on, but for those of you that haven't, I'm also a writer. My main W.I.P. is a fantasy novel that will probably spawn into several books, depending on how well I do and how much I can press into one book. As it's currently a W.I.P., I can't really share any of it, so instead I thought I'd share another story I write on occasionally as a kind of "keeping my skills sharp" thing. I also use the story as a kind of prologue to a Pen & Paper RPG I have, but I'm not going to get into that.

I have quite a few chapters done on it, but I thought I'd post up the three first and see how interested you are. If you want more, I'll post up more.

I wrote this a few years ago also as a feature story on a forum I used to hang out in. I wrote and posted one chapter every week, and it went on for quite a while, until the forums were taken down. Those who have read it seems to have liked it, so I thought I'd let you guys have a go at eat. Please do come with constructive criticism (but also keep in mind that I wrote this with the only goal of getting better at writing - this is not something I am planning on trying to get published).

I like it! It's interesting enough that I'm going to come back and read the other two chapters when I get time. It probably also helps that I have a soft spot for a good revolution story, too.

It was, uh, packed with spelling mistakes, but I'm assuming you just wrote this through once and never re-read it. My own stuff is just as bad for grammar/spelling on the first write through.

I like the names, too. I struggle to come up with names a lot of the time, and yours (with the exception of Kratos) were all new to me.

Beags: Yeah, I know there's quite a few spelling mistakes there. I usually have spell checked turn off during my first draft, mainly because all the red goddamn lines throw me off when I'm on a roll with writing (I tend to write a LOT when I first start). And since this isn't something I intended to even try to publish (for various reasons), I never bothered to go back and fix it.

Glad you like it though. Yeah, there is a lot of names to keep track of, but hopefully it becomes easier with time (as you get to know each of them). I've kind of always had this problem with my stories. There usually turns up to be quite a lot of characters. Maybe my main goal should be not to introduce too many too quickly, to give the readers time to get to know each one.

I will have to read this at some point, just for the love of notch don't go all deus ex machina with your ending or i'll have to kill you .

i always wanted to play "pen and paper" rpg. i still have all the dice, and books for DnD. just never had the chance.
