Yea guys so im thinking of buying computer parts and building a pc I have everything sorted out ( The mobo, case, ram) but I need help should I go for the XFX 6850 at at around 130 quid or the Sapphire 5770 at about 100 quid and should I get amd 965 phenom X4 or the 955 phenom X4 my budget is around 550 quid (I know how much they both come to) but I need the best for the price im only useing it for low end gameing not running crysis super high.

In my experience, when looking for pcs I have always followed the rule of finding the very top end spec but the model just below it. This ensures both longevity and economy.

If you're going for low end gaming go for the budget option I'd say. Though bare in mind, even though Minecraft is low graphics, its in no way a low demand game when it comes to memory. >.> My copy of NWN on my laptop works better than Minecraft does.

If you want to save money go for AMD parts. In my opinion best bang for buck.

I have the AMD 555, which afaik is a 2 core cut down version of the 955. (However I managed to unlock both other cores, unfortuantly one of them is damaged"/) So I've got a 3 core processor at 3.9Ghz (Overclocked from 3.2Ghz) which can take anything on with ease.

I've always been an ATI person and they've never really caused problems expect if you want to overclock with Catalyst, the overdrive tool is causing problems with the latest verison of dual display setups.

Don't fall for this trap. Adding more memory only works up to a certain point, after you reach that point, any additional memory is wasted money. The sweet spot right now is 4 gigs of DDR3 Dual channel. Thats what I have, and have never once ran into a situation where I've used up all my memory, despite running multiple browsers, DVD burning apps, MP3 player, virtual drive emulators, and torrent downloads, ALL at the SAME TIME, all while playing Minecraft full screen at the highest settings at 1080p resolution... and still had only used 80% of available RAM.

So unless you specifically KNOW you will be running a very memory intensive program in the near future, save the extra cash you would have spent on wasted RAM, and put it towards getting a faster processor. Remember, you can always go back and easily add RAM later, or upgrade the video card... but very few people go back and upgrade the processor, since its the most expensive part of the build.

I have 8GB of RAM, however I run alot of multiple virtual machines for my coursework

I was getting 4 gigs ddr3 dual chan and Mulan these parts are Amd lol and im thinking of getting the low end one then waiting a couple of months and getting a faster vid card and putting them both in cross fire.
