Its a possibility that notch will add pistons or if you have it installed heres my autobuilding bridge it self repairs too! Be aware it works on 2 wide bridges and 1 wide bridges I dont know about other sizes.

i'd suggest ditching pistons for now. Notch stated on his blog that they are tweaking them. so any effort you put into figuring out how they work now maybe a waste of time
