In the new spawn would anyone agree instead of a skyrail above our heads why dont we have a subway station that runs underground
Not to be built yet as spawn has only just started and people need to build their homes but its just a suggestion
your sincerly

Just a suggestion, but might be a good idea to state which server your referencing to.
It should run all the way from vanilla spawn to FTB spawn.
hmm inter severe travel awesome
think it could actualy be done if broonie sets up a portal along the subway and if that person in question is on the vannila server with the ftb ultimate pack.

I don't think its possible since you would have to change all the mc files with the ftb files for joining a server with mods installed.
I like the idea with a subway instead of a skyrail
thats why i said the player had to be on the ftb pack when on the vannila server for it to work
Don't try and blame your crazy, drunken ideas on me, poot.
Crossing servers is possible, but the problem lies with the mods enabled themselves clientside.
You could do vanilla to vanilla, or ftb to ftb seamlessly, easily.
I don't like all this impossible talk! I don't believe in impossible where computers are concerned!
I think it would be quite possible to connect a vanilla client to ftb.
What you'd need is to move the ftb server port to something different and create a plugin which would listen on its normal port. The plugin would wait for connecting players and check the version number sent with the handshake packet. If it were a ftb client it would simply forward incoming data on to the ftb server internally to its new port. If it were a vanilla client, it would intercept all packets to and from the server from that client, parse them and remove or modify them where they referenced a nonexistent mob/item/block. You could make it so that all non-vanilla blocks appeared as bedrock to the client etc.
With this system, cross-server travel would be quite simple. You would simply need an equivalent packet forwarder on the vanilla server. When someone jumps server, you just send the boilerplate 'new player connecting' packets to the ftb server and the normal 'kthxbai' packets to the vanilla server so they are both convinced everything's normal and then simply switch which port the plugin is relaying data between. Bingo.
I'm going to have to stop thinking about this before the irrepressible desire to make it kicks in.
Also, wasn't this thread about trains or something?
It was a thread about trains, then I said something intentionally silly which people then started taking seriously and the thread went off topic. Mission accomplished.
A solution already exists, and is used, for connecting multiple servers together e.g. for large maps, large player bases, etc.
If I gave an example however, I'd be breaking rules. Oops!
I don't speak computer - so most of the posts above sort of came across in a kind of hazey blur of understanding.
On the subject of the original post, I think a subway system is a good idea, as I'd like to run a subway out to my new arena (once it's built).
I take it Spawn would be the central hub, and then you would have various "stations" along the way to allow people to stop, change destination, etc?
it would be a bit like the london underground system with sort of tiled effect
