Hey guys!
I would like to announce you guys my new project! It is called Altun Waste Management, AWM for short. In this project of mine, the goal is to collect garbage from whole around the spawn area and meet all that garbage in a garbage center. I think that not everything is garbage, and someone's garbage can be another's treasure. That is why I would like to build this project and make it come alive.
In the project of AWM, all the trash cans in the spawn area will be connected to main trash lines. These lines will be built underground from hoppers and they will transport items from all over the spawn to the garbage center. The transport lines will only be built on under the roads, so it will not cross with anyone’s build. Also, the lines will have same Y level just so they are easier to track.
Currently there are trash cans in the spawn, but they do not really serve as anything other than destroying items. With this project, anyone will be able to access Garbage Center's contents and take any items he/she would like. It will be totally free. I am planning the CFUK players will prefer to throw their unneeded items into the trash cans instead of throwing them to lava. For example, if you have tons of netherrack that you cannot even store more, just throw them to the trash. Maybe someday, someone will need netherrack and that person will just visit Garbage Center and grab whatever he/she needs. I think this will basically allow people to recycle items and recycling is good for nature.
Firstly thanks for your reply! I would definitely would like to co-operate with you on the current sewer network and possible use of those tunnels.
For your question the lag is definitely a problem that I would like to avoid also. The thing is hoppers do cause lag but there are ways to reduce it. I did some research about this and apparently placing a full block with inventory on top of the hopper will turn the hopper off from checking near dropped items, eventually reducing the lag. So in my project all hoppers will have droppers placed on top of them and I think that this will prevent any noticeable lag from occurring.
About loaded/unloaded chunks, I think that hoppers should be able to transport items as spawn is almost always loaded.
I'd suggest you do a test for a small section of spawn first, and see how well it works etc. If's it's a success then I'm happy for you to expand afterwards
Thanks for your reply, Droid. Of course I wont be building everything at the same time but rather slowly. During the construction process I'll make it working in a small area. So we can see how well it performs.
I withdraw this suggestion because its too much work and I don't have time for it. Anyone else can dedicate himself to this suggestion and make it real if he/she wants.
