Flight relogged from a recent crash. The first thing he says, "Pro tip: don't ever use the percent sign" or something very similar. What's the first thing I do? Type "%?". Whats the first thing my client does? Apparently has a social anxiety disorder whenever it gets around percent signs and just shut me down completely. What directly happens following said exploits? Minecraft.net goes down. Yes, me and a % sign destroyed all of Minecraft.

It seems to be going up and down randomly tonight.. Keep trying and it should stop saying "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" at one point

Just to be clear, the % sign only crashes your client, not anyone else's, nor Minecraft.net servers

Also, the bug appears to be isolated to CFUK server, as I've tried this on 3 other servers that are running bukkit (and one that wasn't) and it didn't crash the client. I suspect that a custom plugin doesn't scrub the text chat input well enough.

Yeah, I think the custom plugins should really be rechecked. I tested the % thing on the other server I frequent and nothing happened. Knowing that this is a CF|UK problem leads me to think that maybe the custom plugins is also what is causing the extreme lag/crashes. They REALLY should be checked for bugs.

i discovered this bug a couple of days back. took me 2 crashes to realize what was causing it *blushes*
