Nice doggy, nice doggy.
Anyway back on subject.
So why aint it online yet??
minecraft.net ? No idea, ask Notch.
oh wait, hes away somewhere.
On the minecraft.net forums it pisses me off when people say 'it's not like it's a big company'...Uh, didn't he just past the 1,000,000 sale mark at an average of $10 per sale? So yes, yes it is a big company.
The sales around 1.4 million copies I believe.
I understand keeping a website up is hard, but they really should have this sorted by now. We do have a right, it may be in beta, however we are the testers, and this is merely website troubles they are having. They should be able to keep it up.
well, if they had a roundrobin system, of something like 5x authentification servers on a rrdns...
after you submit name/passwd, they send you an authentification id, or something, as well as the ID of the login server, pass that onto the server, and it know's who you logged in with.
of course, still have to keep the login credentials the same between all servers... so a few technical things to work out
Well at least I got some playing time in yesterday.
I hope they get this mess sorted out quickly. Not one of those sloppy fixes that end up doing more harm than good though.
We've had enough of those heh.

You know what would be a good idea for a fledgling game company to do? Release a new launcher, a new major patch, migrate some of the login stuff to new server/authentication scheme, hire a new guy, then pack UP THE ENTIRE CREW AND LEAVE the office for a few weeks. Then Twitter the crew sitting around drinking beer for lunch!
Good plan, Mojang. I'm sure that will inspire confidence in your company for future sales.
(that was sarcasm, by the way).
Edit: In case anyone isn't aware, Mojang was invited to the Game Developer Conference in San Fransisco. Then they fly out to Las Vegas for another event... I think its the Indie Games something something..... whatever. Its nice they are getting recognition and awards, but leave at least one guy who knows what is going on at the office to fix this login sh*t!
Think they need to hire a networking administrator.
Oh wait, I'm studying to be one of those.
HEY, MOJANG.
They took the entire crew? Seriously. I only thought it would be half max.
You can't leave effectively a large group of people, 1.4 million or so to sit there for a week. Something will go wrong and it has. Large online communities need constant checking.
Gah. Best of luck to them, but that just shows idiocy.
Have you seen the proof of concept for the minecraft film? 20 mins or so of getting to know the mojangers. you can get a bit of a feeling for how notch has been thrust into all this and i respect how they remain an independant outfit. sure, things could be better handled. that is always true for most things in life. I for one dont mind about the downtime. its probably not healthy to play every day.
SpartanG007 is now on the server??? he's on the cartograph but i still cant connect...
He's been online all night.
lol i just wanted to know if i was right in thinking it wasent a server issue ...:P
This will be annoying and putting their whole company at risk for a damn stupid invitation and a award >.> I WANNA PLAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now it said ERROR instead of CAN'T CONNECT TO MINECRAFT.NET ......
4 people just managed to get in, well done to them.
