'Lo all.
My minecraft client just updated itself to b1.5, and I'm now completely unable to connect to CF:UK. I either get Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection Reset or End of Stream, which I'm guessing is the server dropping the connection to my Client as soon as I try to connect.
Is there anyone else having this issue at the moment?

I'm having same problem. Everything was fine before I updated.
I believe the CF minecraft server need to be updated as well?
The sever hasn't been updated yet you will need to downgrade to 1.4 and uploads of old clients are a banning offence on this site.
I'll wait until this evening then. Thanks for letting me know.

I can not get into the server too. We just have to wait ):
I'll back up my copy the now if anyone wants it? Send me a pm
how does one stop the client from upgrading automatically?
Yeah, it's always best to wait to update your client till the server is for sure updated as well. Bukkit still has to adapt to the new updates before we can update our own server.(The new clients or browser version allow you to choose whether to update or not.)
The info on Minecraft updates:
The Game:
The way the game upgrade system works is, when a new update is released by Mojang, if you are using one of the old game "launchers" to launch Minecraft with, you are forced to upgrade. You would have downloaded that launcher file straight from Minecraft.net some months ago, and it is called minecraft.exe. It is used to launch the java-based Minecraft that resides in a system folder on your hard drive. The old launcher does not give you the option to opt out of upgrading the game. It simply assumes everyone wants to upgrade all the time, and does so whenever a new file version is available at Minecraft.net. If you used the old launcher and it forced you to upgrade to 1.5, then you are stuck unless you can find a copy of the older version of minecraft 1.4 somewhere.
DO NOT ask on this forum for a copy of the old 1.4 minecraft version, nor offer this file for distribution here. The site admin (Broonie) can get into trouble due to this type of activity, potentially having the CF-UK server shut down. Respect the site's rules and use common sense.
I suggest everyone use the newest game launcher currently available on Minecraft.net. Just copy it over the existing minecraft.exe file you originally downloaded. There were connectivity problems with the new launcher when first introduced, but those issues have been resolved now and its perfectly fine to use it.
When using the new game launcher, it asks if you wish to upgrade or not right after you log in, simply click "no" and you will continue to use the older version of Minecraft.
None of this applies, however, if you play Minecraft via a web browser. The version you play via a browser is always the most up to date and there is no way to roll it back.
The Server:
Most servers delay upgrading for several days after the official upgrade is available to the public, due to various add on software plug-ins that servers use to protect their members. These plug-in modules often need to be heavily tweaked to run along side the new versions of Minecraft. And because of the public nature of these servers, there are many ways a rouge player can disrupt the game on a "plain vanilla" server that has no protection plug-ins in place.
Massive griefing and player/moderator killing are just the tip of the iceberg. Hacking, cheats, spam, etc... they are all a real threat on any large server, so many admins refuse to run the server without protections in place. The most common method is to use something called "Bukkit" to facilitate the plug-ins to work with the Minecraft server software.
When Bukkit has been updated to work with the newest game version, the admins will usually test it on a lab system to check all the protections work before patching the game and the plug-ins. Unfortunately, the developers who work on Bukkit are volunteers with no official access to the Minecraft code, so the first time they see the code is when it gets released to the general public.
This release/inspection/modification/testing cycle is why it sometimes takes days or weeks to upgrade a server. This cycle will hopefully be greatly shortened in the future when/if Mojang implements their own promised plug-in handler via a native "API" interface, which will essentially replace the volunteer created Bukkit.
In short, if you understood the above explanation, you can probably figure out how to find a copy of the 1.4 version and play on the server for the next few hours/days/whatevers. If not, you might be stuck until Broonie feels confident enough that the protections and moderator tools are working properly with the new version.
Isn't it Ironic that I deleted my 1.4 backup by accident on the same day D:
Fail Nutter, just when you should use it lol:D
Oh bugger. Sorry guys! Please note, however, that it is not automatically updated! You can open the launcher and you are prompted to update. I click 'No thanks' and can proceed on 1.4_01 as normal.
The server has been updated.
