HWAT?!?!?

Not a surprise there, since they already had set the release date of the actual game at Minecon.

Therefore, instead of any crappy beta versions, we will get a full, real release of the game.

...which will be breaking the multiplayer servers for a loooong time. I hope you've noticed that Bukkit, the server software plugin, is still not quite up to date after 1.8 release, so, how long do you think it will take after full release of the game to get it working?

In other words, happy gaming 'till somewhere in February/March, when Bukkit might perhaps be up to date with the full release version of this game. : D

Who's anxious to get a new update? I know I'm not. ; )

Quoth the Dubien, but with proper spelling: 'WHAT?!?!?' O_O

And waiting isn't so bad. It gives us time to build and get ready for whatever Notch and Co. throw our way. And time to find and exploit more redstone bugs. \o/ (that is if they aren't already all found, in which case I should work on finding/making a self resetting maintenance free redstone randomizer.)

It'll be a series of pre-releases until the official release at Minecon.

Kinda off-putting yet again due to all the terrain features that've yet to be added. Roll on November, when perhaps we'll finally have some stability in SMP.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind a completely fresh start for the official release. I think Minecraft is at its most fun when you have the whole community scrambling for resources and actually 'surviving'.

Yeah, I agree. It was fun working together like we did at least that time I joined the 1.8 pre release.

I agree with Jiggy, a fresh start for the full release sounds like a good idea. Even possibly to the point of suspending kits for a time, forcing everyone to struggle for survival.

No, what we will get is a crappy buggy full release. Mojang have been releasing buggy versions for ages. And we are not talking about the hard to find bugs. In the 12 years i have been programming i have NEVER released anything with such obvious bugs even in Beta's. Good Coding Practices are something you don't just pick up right at the end of the development cycle.

Mojang have shown that if they spend ages on a patch, instead of them spending extra time testing stuff (Like actually running the game before releasing) that you get FAR more bugs instead of less. When the release more often they are forced to fix bugs instead of ignore them.

Well Stucuk, there's apparently a feature-freeze starting today, and they'll be doing nothing but fixing bugs up until the release.
I'm optimistic about it, especially with all the community & MineWiki constantly reporting the problems.

I'm glad they're finally taking the time to start fixing all the bugs. I'm still upset about ruining the cboosters, but hey - I'd rather have a bug free environment.

Now we just play and have fun while we wait for the full release of the game. There's probably going to be loads of stuff to do when it arrives.

im glad notch is waiting for minecon since i want something epic like 1.9 for the grand release, not just saying its been released, the bad thing though is that it will be extremly buggy, and we all know how bad notch is about finding bugs before the release

Jighello

The Wiki's been reporting bugs since 2010. Feature Freeze will help, but Mojang have yet to prove they actually do any testing.

Feature Freeze will only stop them introducing bugs when they add new stuff. But if you look at there patch's they generally add bugs when they fix bugs or they only partly fix a bug and never fully fix it.

Based on there actions i have no confidence in them, its not hard to make an application have a low amount of bugs and still develop it at the same time.

I have to agree with sample here, this new map has only been around for a small while and people such as my self, have started making larger projects and towns such as the WTC, Samples Carrier, Olympus, The Underwater City and My Not Quite circular circle. It would be a terrible shame for all the effort that people have put in to wasted after such a short time, although i do see the need for a new map after a while, that moment should not b in the near future. Also if you want to start with nothing and scramble for resources, go for it theres plenty of space especially after the Border is expanded for 1.9.
Re: 1.9 Delayed

I'd be more than happy to start from scratch in a fresh, new map. Even though I've cut and placed some 18000 wood blocks into the WTC. I can always remake it, it'd be a real challenge. : )

Starting from zero really gives the game its survival jist. Also, I'd be happy if we'd have real NPC villages near the spawn, with real NPC's. [edit]Not just only 3500 blocks away.[/edit] : )

Especially if every and each of us would have to start from absolute zero. That would be fantastic! : D
Re: 1.9 Delayed

There is no need for a new map. Broonie deliberately limited the current map so that when 1.9 came out the extents of the map could be expanded allowing 1.9 stuff to be generated in those chunks. The map is currently SMALL, so why switch to a new map when the map will be enlarged when 1.9 is out.

I don't care either way if we get a fresh start or keep the map.
