Welcome to CFUK - A Guide

To all players that are new to crazy fools!

Step 1: Getting to Know Your Surroundings!

In crazy fools, you will first start in a small building that is your gateway to the world. There are 4 places you can go from here. North leads to the business district where you can buy anything from houses to enchanted tools, and if your feeling a little hungry from all that shopping then you can even stop by droid's cafe!
Going South from spawn will take you to the server's train station. This station is your primary method of exploring and going to locations quickly. You can chose to go either North, South, East or West. Most of these lines have junctions which lead to clan halls, pvp arena's and private builds.
Going West from spawn leads to the trailer park and beyond, in the trailer park you can hire any free trailers for a cost. This can be useful for your first night!
Going East from spawn leads you to the residential district which is basically the housing estate of crazy fools! You can build your house in a free space, but you must make sure you follow the building regs which can be viewed in the rules section on our glorious website!

Step 2: Gathering Your Things!

Just like in single player you can mine as much as you want, although you must not mine under any of the 4 districts in spawn town. For best results it is advised to mine far away from spawn as private mines get rarer and rarer the further you go from spawn.

Step 3: Building Your House!

You arent really limited to what you build on the server as long as its appropriate. If you plan on building a huge house then its best that you build far away from spawn as not to take up valuable space.

Thats just about it for now. If i have missed anything taht should be included then let me know!

Otherwise a good guide, Powelly, but the directions happen to be a bit off. : )

NORTH:
Residential area, public farm.

EAST:
Railway station.

SOUTH:
Trailer park.

WEST:
Business district.

Are we still having this argument, on the live map it has north pointing to the business district. Seeing as you spawn facing north logic from your own mind would say that north is in front of you and everything falls into place

Should we put a poll on it MZL?

The rail station is indeed East of the spawn point. Keep in mind that on the live map, the top of the screen is not North, as in most other maps. Everyone is so used to orienting maps so North is "up" that it gets confusing. The live map has a compass in the upper right corner that says West is the top of the screen, and North is to the right of the screen.

Part of this confussion is due to the switch from beta to final 1.0, without generating a new map. In the beta version, Notch had stated that he screwed up and made the sun rise in the North. Everyone assumed that North was East, and that is how the live map was oriented ("fake East" to the right of the screen). As of the 1.0 retail of Minecraft, Notch corrected this and made the sun rise in the "true East", but Broonie never switched the orientation of the live maps.

I mentioned this to Broonie at one point, noting the potential for new member confusion, and he said he might get around to it eventually. Not sure how difficult it would be to do this.... could be a simple swap of a data value or and .ini file edit, or it could involve deleting the existing render and making the map completely re-render from scratch.

In any case, the train station is indeed East of spawn, and business district to the West, if you go by the compass points on the live map as well as observe the sun's motion in-game.

Yup, no need for polls. Facts can't be changed by polls or by arguing. : )
