[poll] Where Were You The Day The Internet Stood Still?

Im rather suprised at the sheer magnitude of blackouts happening over SOPA and PIPA (which is awesome) but even more so by the lulz caused by idiots who cant read enough to know whats going on.
What do you guys think?

I hate it. The US government is taking away our freedoms. They are trying to pass bills that ignore the US constitution. The Patriot act, the NDAA, and now SOPA and PIPA. I don't think the SOPA and PIPA will go through, the protest is making an impact.

This will affect everyone who uses the internet, This is bad i know But, if websites like YouTube and Wikipedia or whatever move from .com to .co.uk, as far as i know they cant be touched by america. ;D. as said on the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, Don't panic, as its the worst thing you could do.
Btw it probably will pass one way or another.

I cant survive without Youtube D:, but other website sites that come from america such as Facebook, Amazon, reddit and any other possible websites that the SOPA believe have copyright and piracy issues, The internet will be destroyed if the bill gets though. they say the internet is the future ( online shoppin etc) But is SOPA get what they want well... you can guess D: we can only Hope!

This just angers me a lot. The government isn't smart enough to realize that this would destroy the internet and the economy of many countries. They could care less, they just want money in their pockets.

So many people have written to the senators here, that it's actually crashed their websites. All the stories I see on my Facebook newsfeed are about SOPA and PIPA. It's nice to see that both views (Republicans and Democrats) are joining together on something, and protesting against it. I hope it does not get passed.

That would be false, its the actual physical server locations (IP addresses) that matter, not the DNS names.
And even if 'merica couldn't touch them in that way, theres nothing stopping null-routing the IP's of outside addresses.

The US has a very large control over the Internet, and with this US-UK Deportation law it would greatly affect the UK.
Only problem is that we can't do Griefers about it.

This is politically incorrect...
If America censors and stops the Internet through THIER bills, without going by any other countries that use the Internet and their laws, they houldbt be allowed to censor the Internet.
All I saying is, if America blocks the Internet. Then the rest of the world is screwed since half f the Internet and its pages were made in America and I'm talking about the popular ones, like YouTube and facebook

It's going to affect everyone. The internet will be dead for awhile, until the government realizes the harm the bill has done. Then they will repeal it.

Unfortunately this is not 100% correct, i think its more along the lines of delayed. i believe it will come back after the presidential election, or PIPA will instead possibly get passed instead as it seems its the better of the two

Pipa has been delayed, Sopa has been killed for a re-write.

this whole story is about one thing. money! money trough control.
Fekkin Hollywood has used over 80 million dollars to get these bills to hearing. why would anyone use such amounts of money to convince lobbyists and politicans?
these bills are written so they caretake the interests of Hollywood, not the population. they say piracy is bad. you wouldn't steal a car and such, but its all about money and profit.
if PIPA nor SOPA passes, it will be a great victory for the population. it will send a clear message to large corporations that the people are in control and the internet is a free place that they cannot pollute nor control.
when CDs and DVDs came, the cassette and VCR industry made a huge fuzz aswell, but they all died out because you cannot really stop the technological evolution. lets just hope history repeats itself and the greedy Hollywood corporations get replaced by someone who isnt that greedy

Well honestly i want both SOPA and PIPA and anything similair to them to die and never come back and leave the internet as it has been.
Even if they restrict the internet anyone determined to get pirate files over the internet can and will still find a way
