beagrie, Tue Apr 10 2012, 11:56AMWe're taking another crack at the "Open Mic" format this weekend, hopefully with a bit more structure than last time. We'll be talking about any significant Minecraft news (if any comes up) but most of the talk will be server orientated, as that seems to be what most of you would like more of, so probably a lot of new spawn talk, new hardware, the map expansion, etc.
If you want to get on the podcast, be on Teamspeak this Saturday (April 14th) around 9pm UK time. We usually manage to start recording by 10pm, and usually finish up a little after 11, so be around those times.

It is a condenser, yeah. The problem I was having is that the first mic, the C1-U, is supposed to be identical to the C1, but USB. So while the C1 plugs into an XLR port and needs phantom power, the C1-U should, in theory, just plug into a USB port, get its power from the computer directly, and deliver studio quality audio with no more setting up than a normal desktop mic would.
Unfortunately, it behaved like it wasn't getting any phantom power, so the audio was so quiet that I had to boost the signal so far to hear my voice that it picked up a lot of background fuzz, which rather defied the point of having a fancy mic.
To answer your question, Naske, I don't know if any of the others have studio quality mics, but it's not necessary. The only reason I'm spending this much on recording equipment is because I have other projects coming up that need it.

All that said... I've just set everything up and I can't get an f-ing signal from the mic. If either or both of these faulty in some way, someone at Behringer is going to get an ear full.

Right. It's the mixer. It's packed up and ready for shipping back to Amazon on Monday, and they have refunded me, so it's replacement is now ordered;
Unfortunately, it means I'll be stuck with same old noise-ridden mic for next podcast.
