[poll] I have received a ton of fraud spam since signing up for this site

And it all involves Jagex Runescape. What is going on? Are you all really involved with this type of phishing? If so, knock it off, at least for me. Before I signed up for this server I received virtually no spam, largely due to the complexity of my email address (two non-alphanumeric characters) and the inclusion of the word 'spam' which a lot of mass mailers will remove. So if it is your responsibility and you have turned my e-mail address to some phishing site for a particular game then please, again, knock it off. You don't have to come clean about it or deny it: just make the e-mails stop coming. Thank you.

Maybe you should keep off the porn sites.

We've never passed on details (except to authorities when required), been hacked, or any intrusions whatsoever.

Obviously you are clueless by making blind accusations with no supporting evidence.

Maybe with your "super-complex" e-mail address, you should invest in a "super-complex" spam filter rather than just filtering the word "spam" (lol)

Your statement with adding extra characters obviously shows you have little understanding how actually technology works.

I don't understand why you think we would want to be involved with phishing.

Inconvenience to our members, minuscule amounts of money that the server already has plenty of from donations. Why would we do that?

This is a quality establishment!

I do understand technology, I program in C++ and tiny bits of ASM. My comment about mass-mailers (the typical commercial kind, not the kind which target specific addresses) taking junk words like 'spam' out of e-mail addresses is well known because the crawlers, when they come across an e-mail address such as @ the SPAM is either part of the email address or it isn't, so the distinction is made one way or the other, usually erring toward removal as human tendency is to include it.

I'm pretty sure it is CFUK's doing since it's based in the UK and so is Jagex. I'm getting all kinds of phishing/spam aimed at a UK market yet I am not a citizen of that nation. The only other site I've registered at was the BBC and I highly doubt they'd be the ones to solicit fraudulent e-mails or enable others to do so.

Fact is, with your tone and attempt to belittle me for voicing a concern over what I thought was a coincidence, you have me leaning toward the notion that you are responsible for this and you are attempting damage control, attempting to make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about. I do. It won't work. Just stop sending me your phishing e-mails, I'm not falling for it. Thank you.

And I'm Cisco certified in networking and security as well as a degree in Networking and Management, obviously you haven't looked closely enough at the e-mails to see that they are not coming from CF | UK.

Your going to keep on receiving them, because it isn't CFUK's doing, never has been, never will be.

If you thought it was a coincidence, you wouldn't of came here with accusations, I'm in full right to defend CF | UK against lies such as yours.

I could sit here and argue with you all day because you're annoyed at receiving a couple kilobyte files which you can get rid of in one click *delete*

I can only feel sorry for you that your perfect e-mail address has been spoiled by a couple of spam messages that pretty much every external e-mail provider will receive. Grow up.

Hot tip, most people already know this, but your likely to be oblivious, 1 e-mail address for personal/business use, another e-mail address for internet website use. If you don't like checking two e-mail accounts, forward all e-mails from your internet website use to your personal/business one, once your internet website use starts getting spam, create a new one.

It would perhaps, make sense if there was more then one case of this related to the server. As far as I am aware, you have been the first one to date that has assumed such a relation.

We are a minecraft server, and we don't specialise in runescape at all. Also, due to the wonderful nature of our members, and the way this server is run, we don't resort to acts like selling user data. This would be illegal, wrong, and do damage to our image which we have worked hard on these past two years.

The security of the server and user data is also not in question. As Broonie has put in more then sufficient measures to secured said data.

So sadly, we can not stop this spam for you. As we are not the origin of said spam.

Also, we dislike being accused in this nature with no/little facts. We find this offensive and have replied in turn.

By any chance did you sign up to runescape using this email,or have done in the past? It tends to be a big factor to why jagex are mailing you.

Its interesting though that you think we're connected to jagex even though there is no proof pointing towards that one bit. just interested to why you think that.

Oh i also like the way you think runescape is fraud.

Completely sorta off-topic here but one thing that confuses me about runescape is why the hell is there a massive ad for it in my schools canteen
