Minecraft 1.7

SpinDreams, Sat Sep 21 2013, 08:31PM

With Minecraft 1.7 coming out fairly soon with all the new bioms etc let me be the first to suggest a map reset for the vanilla server and as discussed in another thread maybe we can limit the size to something much smaller e.g. 2000x2000 or even smaller so in future we can extend the borders rather than reset the map every time.

If it does happen i think a "complete" reset would be beneficial for a fresh start to everyone. But that's just my opinion.

i would very much like a complete reset of everything with 2k borders and extension on a need-to-basis. No armageddon chests or old map. I think that if the 1.7 map can be promisted staying for a year or so, we will start to see big projects, awesome builds and more stable activity from some of the old players smile

With all this coming soon ... I think I'm just going to put a hold on my current vanilla build (I have learnt a few valuable lessons so far though - ones that have cost me a lot of time so far). So I'll put this build down as the "practice build" cheesey

I'd be happy to restart my build on a new server smile

Anyone know when 1.7 may happen? Also would a total reset mean we would lose our CFUK balances?

nahh, the balance is cross server stored in your CFUK profile data. It would only reset the map and your inventory.

Dont really wanna have to collect allllll those heads again - i think it shoud be left up to players to choose for themselves if they want a fresh start or not , it shouldnt have to effect everyone - a new map is good , not allowing players to keep their stuff is bad in my eyes .

I think I would like a new server with a new start from scratch. Although I do like being able to bounce around worlds as I like but I am open to either approach. Don't get rid of the old server maps though.

Honestly I'm completely up for a fresh start. I want to give the game another stab so this might be the way for me to get back into it.

I'm up for a fresh start. Not played much since GTA and FIFA have been out but need something to get me hooked again

I'm fine with a fresh start as well (although I'd miss my dragon eggs...)

I like the idea of a fresh start, on the other hand I think that each player deserves at least one small chest to take with them, like in previous maps. I'm not sure if this applies to me only but I was intending on doing some big projects for 1.7 (if we get a new map that is) although a good amount of time has gone into gathering materials in preparation already. I was hoping to bring at least some of the materials over. Does this apply to anyone else...or is it just me? Either decision I'll be in good health with though.

I agree Droid - if it's possible to carry-over a chest from the old to the new map, I would prefer that option. At least that way you can take some items with you that are just too valuable to leave behind.

I seem to remember this a few maps back on vanilla ... unfortunately I messed up the transfer process, and transferred myself BEFORE my chest ... so had to start from scratch again as once you were transferred, you couldn't go back frown

I might actually give Vanilla a try again in 1.7. I want a small chest to bring but no portals to old maps. Honestly it was cool at the time, but I find that since I already built so much on old old map, I just go back to my old lonely build. No incentive to play on the newer map.

Also, extreme magnification on the landscape would be awesome.

When you check the homepage the Vanilla server is called survival classic now. And there is already an entry for a survival refresh server 'coming for 1.7'
So i assume broonie plans to keep the current server as is and make a fresh new one with a new map for 1.7
No idea if any kind of chest transfer is planned

With the way people seem to be feeling about things maybe a single chest of items is the way to go with this, might as well give people the choice.

If a transfer chest is planned may i suggest creating a new custom world (recommended skylands) and allow people to store one chest there. Then move that world over to the new server when it goes online.
I volunteer for building a spawn chest house if wanted

Damn, i haven't been around here in a while, but yeah, I reckon a new map would get me back on, I would have to disagree with mega, if there's a new map, there should be a new set of stuff to come with it as well. Also means alot of people will be in the nether for quartz, and we all know how fun the old nether pvp is ;D
