1.7 spawn ideas

I suppose as we are repidly approching 1.7 we need a spawn idea or theme to revolve around it
one of my favorite spawns that has been made before was the seaside ship spawn with the pirate galleon
perhaps the same look but more organised
here is a donation booth I made for spawn
lets hope we can get an idea before the server updates....

Great idea! I'd be happy to help out with donations but as of now i think 1.7 will run on a new fresh server. And no words from broonie if there will be any chest/item transfer.
So my suggestion is to wait until the 1.7 server is live with CF-UK

A quartz and stonebricks city, with a cathedral (like Micke said) near the middle and a golden compass on the ground outside of the cathedral.
Then a city around ofc, and a moat with bridges in all four main directions (so spawn is more or less monster proof) so players can easily go out and explore the new map.

Reminds me of the second spawn in old_world, personaly I would like it more organic, less structured, I always liked how spawn 1 in old world was quite random, made it much more interesting and gave people much more freedom.

It's not an island , more of an anti mob moat , a cathedral would be good , it's better to have a more structured spawn since first impressions really count , but how we go about it doesn't matter , I don't want it all to be stone , remember we now have many more organic blocks to work with now , including all the newer plant types and wood etc , I'd like to see them incorporated , but a cathedral with stained glass would be epic , but we must have greenery also !!!!!

But instead made from quartz
and bigger !!!!! Then the stained glass would contrast better , sim else design to yours as it looks good but with a massive spire ! Like Spanish or Italian cathedrals.

How about something like this...
Clicky for Piccy! Obviously, just start with the center hexagon (or whatever works best for minecraft), and then create the branches later as expansion requires. Remember - the center-piece will be quite big ... and you could have a futuristic (and really tall) chapel right in the middle

This all sounds exciting.
I think we are all ready for a true community build of 1.7 spawn. If we can use all our separate talents and work together we can make the best spawn to date!
My only strong opinion on the design is as mega said, not too much grey stone and equal importance placed on horticulture

A Central Cathedral would be amazing.
What about an underground minecart station with tracks leading to the four points of the compass, to help connect the satellite towns connect with spawn?

Quartz worries me, being quite a limited material it would slow down construction somewhat especially if there's gonna be a big cathedral. Nevertheless, I love the cathedral idea, being from York!

So most of us agree on a cathedral as spawn, what style do we want around?
Spin and Mega wanted somthing more organic, so we can use the new wood etc.
Then what about a hanging gardens inspired theme?
Plants and small rivers, with structures of mostly wood in between and the mighty cathedral in the center of it all.

Oh that sounds good , we should make the cathedral look like it has had gardens that has overgrown with vines and leaves hanging down and water wheel like structures woth water flowing etc.

Yes to cathedral, no to quartz, looks good but it's way too expensive to just waste 10,000 blocks of it on a giant cathedral, nahmean, could use stone dark oak and some quartz, and of course the stained glass
