[poll] Nether Reset Poll

Soul_UK, Thu Feb 12 2015, 08:58PM

This Poll is slightly different to the one on the CFUK sidebar, in that I'm giving you a few more options.

There seems to be a varying opinion as to how often the Nether should be reset. So I thought I'd lay out some timescales / options to see what the majority want to do smile

I prefer often, I'm not much of a hero and i'm often face with wanting things that arent anywhere in my 1000 block "sorta feel like i can get back from here-zone"

Since there is no warps and its a pvp free zone on top of the generally more challenging wildlife... yeah... often.

If there were warps I could bear with 6 months or even a year or so, since I could just roam and go out the 20k blocks i'd eventually need to get glowstone and quartz. Would also allow for people to make wither/blaze farms and stuff more than every month would.

Seems like a good idea, if only for the main server.

Ok - so far most people seem to think a three month reset period would be best.

Anyone else care to vote on this?

And yes, this vote is just for the Vanilla server Nether, not the modded servers wink

i think every month might be a bit to often, some people like to setup ares for killing wither skeletons and the like, would be annoying to have to re-do that all the time, so imo 3months or when ever its been over-mined would work best.

Piggles brings up a good point.... so better yet rather than messing around with resetting the nether all the time (which lets face it requires someone to get of their arse and do it every three months and so will never get done anyway), so lets bring back the quartz kit and make it a large stack amount with a short cooldown and then the nether wont be mined out as it will be easier to just kit what you need. I love quartz as a building block, it has all the block types and so needs to be readily available.

i agree with the kit bit, but i would like people to use the nether more really.

I don't use quartz in my builds at the moment as I haven't had a need to do so. However, I do go to the Nether for glowstone as I do go through a lot of that very quickly when building (either in glowstone blocks or redstone lamps).

To compromise on the kits idea - I would suggest a nether quartz kit of 64 blocks with a reasonable cool-down time (i.e. not too short, but not too long). That way if you want to use a lot, you'll either have to save up kits, or go mining for the extra (but having the kit wll make you less reliant on the Nether).

The same could be said for Glowstone - although I'd make that the same as a TNT kit (something like only 16 blocks with a 10-12 hour cool-down time).

Oh and as for regular resets - I'm sure that can be set up with a script - so no-one has to get off of any seat to do it wink

Hmm, yeah i actually agree with Souls idea. Seems a fair amount and time for glowstone. Most of the time you only really need a few blocks to make some lamps for a short area. Unless you're like me and light every 5th block on your really long ass road round the land tongue

Glowstone blocks for mining shafts, yeaaaaaaaa *smirks*
