Hi Guys,

Been a while and I haven't been regularly visiting, been playing a lot of UHC.

Got an email saying the borders had been expanded so thought I would check it out, in my travels to the east it looks like a few problems.

1. Villages and desert temples spawning in water or outside deserts.
2. It seems as if the new area has already been explored as all the temples and villages are picked clean even though on the map it shows as unexplored.

My theory is that someone has explored before the border was set on a different version which has placed the temples and village spawns etc and then the terrain part of the map outside the set border has been removed and regenerated using a different seed or version of MC where the seed generates differently and now it is all messed up.

So anyway with 1.9 around the corner how about a fresh clean map, no warping between maps and everyone starts with nothing. I know for myself that the current maps no longer holds any excitement for me. the last temp map where everything was vanilla, no warps etc was much more fun for me and much more challenging without having all of the resources from old maps available. Could even go as far as having auto-regen off for a while to make things ultra challenging.

Oh so the end of crazy-fools is nigh... shame as I have yet to find another server which has as close to vanilla set up as CF, every other one seems to be either based around pvp and griefing...

I would however suggest that you load the map into MCEDIT and removed everything outside 1000x1000 and have it all recreate properly as as it is it's a pointless increase if the areas has all already been explored and spawns are all in the wrong place.

Nobody else wants a reset afaik. Everyone wants the map to stay. The end is therefore not nigh. Though your concern for the server's well-being is appreciated.

Yeah I really miss the days of the last "official" map TBH, no one seems to want to do anything on this map, certainly not much at spawn and with everything borked and trashed AFAICS in the supposedly new expanded zone there isn't much incentive to explore. I dunno maybe I just need a new project. frown I miss the old CF and want it back, guess I am asking a lot! sob.. I would even consider modded MC if it wasn't that every time I go on it's lagging so bad I can't even break blocks.

Okay after a second attempt to explore the new map areas it is apparent that the temples and villages have not be explored but in fact none of the loot chests have been spawned in them which is what made me think that they had all been explored already. Also no villagers spawn in the villages. Seems to me that something needs to be done as it has broken the game as I see it.

i had previously noticed that loot chests had not been spawning in temples/villages long before this last border expansion, i think it was after the 1k > 2k expansion when i built my pyramid i noticed it. I can't think of any reason why they wont spawn, but can only guess its a bug with something tongue

Well it might be that chests got spawned where the temples and villages were actually meant to spawn since they have obviously spawned the the wrong locations, so I would guess there are lone chests on the surface or underground in the case of desert templates all waiting to be discovered. smile

Anyway I would at least suggest deleting the recent expansion where there is likely no one building yet and have it regenerate properly.

The recent border extension was done without anything else changing. Deleting and regenerating those chunks most likely wouldn't change anything.
The chunks themselves are perfectly fine 1.8 generated (new blocks, new biomes, ocean monuments, all there) just that strange feature with missing lootchests and out of place villages/temples.

The fact is though that as it is, the map (and likely future expansions) are FUBAR. No Villagers, No loot... It be broke cap'n but not as we know it. So someone either needs to fix it, if they care, or say sod it and let it die as it is. I like CF, I have invested a lot into it, but if I could be part of a another server like CF that didn't seem like it had given up I would be much happier.

Am I asking for too much, Broonie if you don't have the time or you are now just along for the ride until it dies, then let someone else take the reigns. Lets get some community things going, one off ABBA or UHC matches or another hunger games match, lets sort out the server and return CF to something of it's former glory, I am willing, is anyone else?

I don't think I am wrong saying what I am saying when I login to the vanilla server and 95% of the time I am the only one there.

Is the upcoming update going to require new gen ? if so then it seems silly to reset the map now. I'd gladly take part in future events as would (i am sure) timeno droid theakman and the rest of them guys, I have contact with alot of people from cfuk as I am sure most of you guys do so getting a sizable crowd together shouldnt be too hard.
