Mob Tower- Can You Survive The Climb And Reach The Treasure Chest?
, Tue Feb 22 2011, 08:17AMAs stated in my sig, my lovely little Mob Tower is one of several Survival Challenges I've got scheming up in my head, the Tower will be one of the simpler to make, but hardly the simplest to beat. "Why is that?" you ask? Well imagine this, the first floor starts at y=67, and the 20th floor ends at y=127, that's 20 floors of mazes, false exits, deadly mob parades, and booby traps for you to meander through. "Oh posh, I can do it with a diamond sword and armour set and make it back down in time for tea" you say? Well, sure, you could, but the Challenge part comes not just from the Tower itself, but from the Challenge of climbing it with only a basic leather armour set and stone sword, no food, and no other tools/items for you to rely on. Still feeling brave? Think you can brave the dangers and navigate your way to the treasure chest? Then sign up to be one of the first lot to test your mettle in it.
If you succeed in this Survival Challenge then wipe that smug grin off your face because the next Challenge will be... a Dungeon Crawl/Quiz

Stay tuned for details on Tower progress.EDIT: Upon further thought, I've decided that I'll add an extra possible reward, if you so wish you can take the treasure that will be placed for you in the chest at the end, or you can leave it, and I will allow you to alter up to 10 floors of the tower (not necessarily consecutive floors) in any way shape or form you'd like excluding making an extension to the dimensions of the building.

hehe you know i was thinking of suggesting something similar. although for pvp.
have you ever played Quazer/Lazer Quest. where you wear a plastic jacket and have a lazer gun... work as a team to score the most kills etc, all in an indoor area that's a bit dark and murky and you can't see far around each corner.
was thinking to help prevent cheating that once a person has been killed (obviously they go back to spawn), but a locked door and waiting room for the "dead" to wait until the game is over and the winning team decided, so the dead can't come back to the game, but the last remaining person can walk through a steel door (exit only) into the waiting room and bask in glory

adding to that i'm wondering how we can do team colouring. i guess we'd have to make a red skin and a green skin for peeps to put on when they want to play.
thinking about rules, each person can have one TNT (as they dont destroy blocks), one steel sword and only leather armour.
you could have CTF where you've gotta get the obsidion in the middle. obviously needing 30 secs to mine it while your team mates protect you.

interesting that floor 2 jumps a difficulty
i'd love to come try it out, but i'll be honest... if i try it out at every floor completion i'll end up remembering it. I'll wait till its completed for the full hardcore experience

To note, the simplicity and elegance of the Tower is that I can easily manipulate each and every floor at will, so you can Never memorize it fully
. I plan on changing things up every time someone finishes the completed tower, not excessively, but just enough to keep your mind racing for answers as to why you're now lost when you already beat it once.
Also Floor 2 jumped difficulty to Master level because it require a bit more effort to truly leave as opposed to find the right set of stairs, and in total it has over a dozen false exits, far beyond what any beginner or average player could get through.
EDIT: And the Grandmaster floors will generally be grouped together in 3 or more floors per GM set, I'll let you wonder why though, they also won't be like anything you'd care to expect.

One last note, the other ideas Ihave for survival challenge builds also allow me to change them up to make them different after someone successfully completes it for instance, the quiz will allow me to change anything from the wording of the questions and answers to changing up the questions and answers altogether, moving them around or even altering which passage leads to the end . The Tower is 10x simpler but just as effective, move a couple planks here, put them there, block the "true" exits on a few floors, clear the blockage on these exits there, and suddenly it's brand new as far as memorizing the correct route goes .

Oh, you should have a second challenge, that goes down into the earth, instead of up into the sky, so that more mobs spawn.

Tools aren't allowed, and you can store your things before heading there, it's a stone's throw from spawn so when you're ready all you'd need are a stone sword and a set of leather armour, nothing else will be allowed (expect to be given a couple pieces of food for the journey when the tower is 100% complete)
