Minecraft Info's Screensaver project was started around October 2010 and first released on the 20th of October 2010. The goal has always been to provide a screensaver with as much customisability as possible.
Feedback and Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
6 Screensaver Modes (7 Including "Random Mode")
Does not require Minecraft to be Installed
Supports Texture Packs
Supports Custom Minecraft Fonts
Custom Backgrounds
High level of customisability
Ability to play Minecraft's Music
The Screensaver needs to be placed in Windows\ or Windows\System32\ folder for it to show up. If you download the version which includes an installer then it will appear in the Add/Remove Programs bit of windows.

Does the Logo have all the different sayings with it? That would be cool =). Good Job.

It doesn't. Its just the Minecraft name made of blocks that fall from the sky. Though my version is a slowed down version (Since in the game it only takes about 1 second for all the blocks to fall which isn't interesting as a screensaver).

Its compressed in a rar file. RAR's are like Zips but have greater compression. You need to have a decent Zip/Rar application that can support more than Zip files to open it.
Something like WinRAR(Which can open up Rar's/Zips/7Zip,/etc).
Note: WinRar is "shareware" in the loosest sense of the word. Basically you just get a box poping up stating that you should register/delete it from your computer. Pressing "Close" makes that "Warning" go away and allows you to use it for years after the 40 day trial.

Updated to 1.11
Version 1.11
Texture pack bug fixed
Partial support for texture packs above 16x16
Random screensaver mode selection bug fixed
Mob Profile mode added(work in progress)
There was a bug with texture packs where if you tried to select the "Minecraft" one after you had previously selected a custom one, it would never reset the selected texture pack. There was also a bug where it wouldn't select the correct random screensaver mode based on what you had picked from the list.
Partial support for texture packs above 16x16 means that if you use a higher resolution texture pack that the screensaver will resize the terrain.png to 16x16 and use that instead(Except with Mob Profile). As the screensaver uses GL_NEAREST even if it fully supported higher textures it would still look blocky(There are artifacts when using GL_LINEAR due to how it works when you use Atlas textures).
The Mob Profile mode is a work in progress, currently its just Steve (The player character). Mob Profile mode requires a valid Minecraft directory to be set or it will just display a warning message instead when ran.

Updated to 1.12
Version 1.12
Added "Safe Mipmaps" option
Added Custom Music List
Added Fullscreen Preview ability
Added Error Logging ability
Added Zombie to Mob Profile
Fixed an OpenGL bug
Fixed Memory Leaks
The preview window can no longer be re-sized, but it can switch between windowed and fullscreen(You can click on the middle of the window to switch).
The custom music list only accepts OGG files. Id love to support MP3's but there doesn't seem to be any examples for using MP3's with OpenAL. I personaly use CDEX to convert MP3's to WAV's and then oggdropXPd to convert the WAV's to OGG's(Using an Encoding Quality of 3). You will be able to find other tools to convert MP3's to OGG's.
Added "Wake Rate" option to Falling Blocks and BlockField
Added Creaper to Mob Profile
Fixed loading of Texture Pack "Pack.png" Images
"Wake Rate" controls how many blocks are drawn on the screen in Falling Blocks and BlockField modes.

Updated to 1.14
Version 1.14
Added Custom Skin Option for "Steve"
The custom skin option allows you to select a character skin for the "Steve" mob. Note that "Hats"/"Helmets" are not supported. 1.14's changelog is small because i have been focusing on 2.0 .
Below is some teasers of 2.0 showing it has more flexibility with what it can render than 1.0 has(1.0 can only render actual blocks).
Re: Minecraft Screensaver , Fri Oct 14 2011, 09:00PM
2.0 has been released. Its not 100% finished.
It lacks:
Animated Mobs not finished.
Minecraft Title Screen not finished.
Minecraft Logo lacks "Advanced" settings.
Custom Image Backgrounds not implemented.
Sound not implemented.
Its benefits:
Faster, more optimised
New Mode, "Minecraft Title Screen"
Ability to render more "Blocks"
Per mode background options
Cache System for increased speed when dealing with large texture packs(HD ones)
Ability to preview screensaver mode settings in real-time (Click on a mode from "Screensaver Modes" list while the preview window is visible)
All settings update the preview
Re: Minecraft Screensaver , Fri Oct 14 2011, 09:45PM

Re: Minecraft Screensaver , Wed Nov 30 2011, 05:21PM
2.1 has been released.
Added ability to import Minecraft's Subtitles
Added Custom Backgrounds
Added Basic Music System
Added Advanced options for the Minecraft Logo Mode
Added Support for Custom Minecraft Fonts
Added ability to render Stairs
"Finished" the Minecraft Title Screen Mode
Fixed several Memory Leaks
Improved Animated Mobs Mode
Note: Music can be turned on/off but you can not set what is played. Mus files are supported(They are used for some of Minecraft's Music). Currently it will just play music from Minecraft (If you have Minecraft Installed). The Animated Mobs Mode will now randomly pick a mob to display every minute as well as rotate the mobs(You still can't set its settings).

Why does no one ever make cool stuff compatible with mac?!
Re: Minecraft Screensaver , Mon Dec 31 2012, 03:41PM
Because most people own a PC. PC's are cheaper than Mac's and have more software.
I don't own a Mac due to the fact that it would be a waste of money buying one. I also hate how Apple controls everything. You can't even buy replacement parts and fix your mac yourself, your forced to pay extortionate rates at an Official Apple Dealer.
So i can't develop software for macs without owning a mac.
