Most of you seem to follow Minecraft news closely, so you probably know about this, but it's been announced that Minecraft - Pocket Edition will be demoed at E3 this year; http://mojang.com/2011/05/25/minecraft-pocket-edition/

The video posted seems to look more like Minecraft classic, and I was just wondering if anyone is bothered. There are a number of android devices that should be able to run Minecraft, but there is no word yet as to whether Pocket Edition will run on any of them, or just the Xperia (which has dedicated gaming controls).

Thoughts?

yeah i went on one classic server back when that was all you could do without paying and ditched it immediately!

I missed the whole classic era, but, as I wrote in my article, I barely see the point in Singleplayer as a game due to the lack of motivation, let alone a Single or Multiplayer server where you had unlimited resources and no mobs.

I haven't found the article to confirm, but a podcast I listen to (Tech News Today, try it; it's called TNT) said that Mojang had announced somewhere that it would be out on Android and iOS devices, Xperia is just getting it first.

I've tried playing Minecraft with an Xbox controller hooked up to my PC... not fun. Minecraft is definitely better suited to mouse and keyboard.

It wouldn't surprise me if it came out on PS3, though. Presumably, if they've ported it to the PlayStation Android platform, they've already done the hard work?

Id put money on them putting Minecraft on every device they can. They will milk it as much as they can. Though id guess that the PC is likely to be the only platform where you can play Minecraft without limitations (Such as view distance).
