Needed? Sure, sure. But will the spawners be faster than breeding? That's the question.

I have to say I was disappointed with the initial release of animal breeding (in the pre-release) because it spawned fully grown animals. This makes it more realistic and doesn't make it too easy to gather meat from animals. (assuming baby animals do not drop things when killed)

Well if there's a growing period for animals (where they'll be useless, pretty much), then I'll be keeping my spawners.

Not really. Not everyone has or has access to spawners, and as such animal breeding is still relative.

Breeding as it is in the pre-release is much faster than spawners, especially with a setup I made in SP which automatically filters and kills whatever pops out.
With the actual release of 1.9 baby animals won't drop loot and we'd have to wait for them to 'grow up'. Sucks. Fun, though!

I don't be mean to be a buzz kill, but does anyone else think that this whole breeding thing is going to knock servers or their arse's? Especially if it's possible for them to breed without player intervention.

And I know Kahr is really looking forward to "intervening" with some sheep.

I don't know if anyone's come across it, but there's a chunk of land lit up and sign posted "BEAGREH!" all the way around. Not been on server to do anything with it yet.
