Ok, the other night, SGT_Blinky hosted a race over obsticles, facing "sniper" fire from members with Bow's n Arrows, and complicated hurdles to overcome (some fatal) ... and it all turned out to be a really good laugh (plus some good prises to be won).

Therefore, as the original race was set on top of someone elses build, I thought we could "up the ante" by building a new race arena.

Basically, when you start a race, there will be four directions you can go. However, each direction will have an ever changing course (set by the organisors) and you won't know which way to "race" until the gates open (i.e - you'll be in the middle of 4 sets of gates, and only 1 will open).

I have set up a warp point - "race arena" - over water, and have started to build a few tracks outwards from there. I need help from other members to build the rest of the tracks (even making them wider). We need to make them wide enough to accomodate enough "racers", and place enough obsticles.

MAX RACE DISTANCE IS 50 BLOCKS ... so please set up a "finish line" at 50 blocks (ish) from the start point, and a few blocks after that for the players to stand on after the race (say about another 10 blocks).

Simple race rules: - No building; - No fighting other players; - No damaging the course; - No whining if you don't win... if you can think of any better rules, please post

I'd love to see a permanent race course to be set up!
My carrier is always open for events as well That was an awesome time.

When my arena is finished I would be more than happy to help with that, I was considering on adding it on to my arena.

I suggest a Top Gear Test Track for racing events. While I'm not much of a designer I would be more than happy to help.

Sounds Funky, wish i had stayed long enough to take part But yeah, my not quite circular circle, could be made available for this, as i still aint sure what to use it for.

great idea!!! perhaps you could include pistons to modify the terrain or require the runners to press buttons and complete sections before the section resets?

Have you ever played the indie game called Edge? that's my sort of thinking.

perhaps you could add some cunning gameplay where a runner can push a button/tread on a plate that would make other runners on a different section fall and have to redo it.

I'm sure this was my idea. #grudge

Anyway, I do think it'll make a great community project; it's always more fun when everyone gets involved.

Well I've got the basic layout sorted ... it's currently got the starting "room" with doors to hold the players in until someone "upstairs" opens one of the set's of doors.

I'm nearly finished building the base of the track (it's cobble, so if people build on top you'll know when you've dug down too far when "clearing" a track.)

OK, each track isn't that long ... but the addition of a few obsticals will keep it entertaining.

Adding interactive obsticals sounds like a good idea, but as my existing race course is "floating" on the water, trying to build the circuit structure underneath would be a little tricky and time consuming - I think it would be a better idea to make a track on land and have a "service tunnel" under it, allowing you to set up and change things easily
