I used to have an old IBM laptop with black and white screen which had Windows 95. I used it only for writing. The battery lasted for ages, and it did exactly what I wanted, and did it well. : )

Actually, now that I mention it, I might still have it somewhere... *ponders about rummaging his computer stuff storage*
