Whenever I plug headphones into my computer, they never work.
Any advice.

Do the headphones definitely work? Have you tried them in other things?
Are you definitely plugging them into the right socket? (usually green or with headphones symbol)
If your computer has built in speakers, do they mute when you plug the headphones in?
Does your headphone jack come with its own volume control? (either physical or in your volume control settings)
Have your headphones ever worked or is this a new problem?
On top of everything Discharge asked, what OS are you running? (Windows XP, Windows 7, OSX, Ubuntu, etc)
There are a dozen things in each OS that could cause the headphones not to put out any sound.
lol my old lecturer used to tell us thats the best method for electronics, also it was the best way to bugger it up so we could actually find whats wrong and fix them.
