As the title says - How did you come up with your screen name?

To start if all off - Here's how mine came about...

Many years ago, I needed to create a screen name for a popular music downloads website, but hit a mental block. So I did the old pick a random page in a theaurus ... First word I liked on the first page was "Soul", and then after another random flick through, the only other word I found that went with "Soul" was "Link".

Therefore I was "Soullink". I later used this name on varoius car club websites (my hobby), but everyone in posts or at meets just called me "Soul" - So I stuck with that

This particular name I came up with on a trial account in WoW. I couldn't come up with one so I jammed in a bunch of random letters. Somehow the random bunch of letters looked like "Dubien", so I choose that name since I liked it. So therefore, I used it for minecraft.

Draze has been my nickname for quite a long while, i think since around 2005 when i used to play Second Life. It was just like your dub, a random thought and it stuck now even Tech and Ariana call me draze since i seem to prefer that over my real name.

Crap. Mine is really dumb.

I'm a huge Pokemon fan. My favorite one is Heracross. My irl name is Allen. Heracross + Allen = Heralen.

A week later I completely regretted my choice of name, but it was too late.

My minecraft name is just my real name, the reason for this was 2 fold

a.) I didn't think for a second when I set up my minecraft account back in beta 1.2 that the account name would be my screen name.

b.) I hadn't played computer games for years before minecraft, and really didn't have anything to use.

I sometimes use a couple of names when playing other games these days, Zethina is just a made up name, I also sometimes use Halfrek (a character from Buffy the Vampire slayer).

Cars are also my hobby(I love my Mazda MX5), but just use my real name on the MX5 forums i'm on.

Well Qotsa_101 is fairly obvious. Kinda regret the name though... But on the otherhand there is T3H_Q (Tethys) which is my correct and propper online name i suppose. Albeit Tethys came before Qotsa did name wise, but since everyone called me Q i thought id mash the 2 together abit in some demented way and ended up with T3H_Q.

There is a story behind the tethys name but i kinda cba going into it because its long winded and kinda nerdy so i'll just leave this rambling where it is.

My screenname chose me.

Mine's short for Boris the Engineer, which I came up with in about 1989 I think and it was because two of my friends had their own "handles" or nicknames.

Wasn't even online back then.

The-ak-man was my original name (named after my old roblox character, don't worry i don't play it anymore) I then learnt people on CFUK were calling me theak (fea-ck) I liked the name and decided to make it my alias

conathan was a login id back in high school (NATHAN COulson). Back then I think I was using Illuminator or Illuminator43 (which started when I was tinkering with the alpha of StarSiege 3). Was part of a clan (Only time I've ever been part of one of those) and they said I should have something made up.

(Occassionally I do make use of it here and there these days, but just in local games).

Other then that, I used Clippy on the LinuxFromScratch irc channel, which was one of my favorites.



I like conathan, as it's more me then a made up name. and I also like consistency across the internet.

I used my favorite comic book character's sub classification 'Toa' and my favorite hobby (until now) space.

For me it's just a name I've used online as long as I've been online =) It's what people call me in my dreams most commonly.

Well this one time a few years ago I had this really unfortunate infection.

No. I made that up.

The first game I ever played online was Star Trek Elite Force II many many years ago. I was originally using my real name as a screen name, but someone told me this was newbish. While filling in an application form for a clan on said game, I needed a new name. I wanted something that sounded physicsy and kinda cool. Discharge was the first word I thought of.

I have since been made aware of some other connotations I didn't originally think of...
