I'm sure this was put up on the forums with the best of intentions, but why was this put up exactly? I cannot make anything out - sky-rail or otherwise.

Its meant to give an overall general idea of the biomes in the area, if anyone needs to find a spot to experiment with large structures. Personally, I was trying to find the largest body of water near a desert for an animal trap I plan on making. I was discussing this image on Teamspeak with another member, and he wanted to see it, so I just made it available to all members that might be interested in this area.
Also, I thought the dozen or so people who live in this area might find it interesting to see whats just over the horizon from their home, and might spark even further exploration. Most people that live in this area are used to seeing the area on the live cartograph, so its not hard for them to make out specific details, like my place, The_Lynx's compound, Blinky's beach area, Jig's sphere of glass, etc.
And also.... it was put up because the skyline rail system has now been linked to the new spawn area via an underground subway system. You can now get in a minecart at new spawn, and ride it nearly to the maps' westernmost boarder (over 7,000 blocks out). I anticipate more members who cannot teleport will explorre the area, and this is a nice general guide of the terrain, as well as highlighting areas still un-touched by anyone.
In short, it was never meant to be a block-level detail map, just a general guide of the surface features and a guide on what has been explored and whats has not.
