I've not tried this before, so I just made a render of new spawn. What do you think? I was hoping to make some more of different parts of the server (old spawn, old old spawn, and any key locations (suggestions?)

Torches are blocks in that render. Would be better if they were invisible rather than blocks.

It's been off the front page since last night – but how would it be causing a DDOS?

people saw us on reddit and decided to greif and ddos us at the same time....

Ah well. I can't be blamed – it is a public server. And hell, I came from Reddit!

Taking a post of our server down isn't going to prevent griefers and server attacks. It could be anyone, and we're always going to have "lovely" players like that - like it or not.
Being as big as we are, I'm glad we haven't had an excessive problem with attacks.

The majority response was one of awe, and excitement. It was a good way to show off our server, and I'm sure several of those guys came over to play, with good intentions.

We can't blame Retep for the harmful actions of someone else, nor will we. It's a public server, and he's free to advertise it like he had.

Unless CFUK goes into Stealth Mode and has no public information anywhere on the net (Including a website like this one), then you are not going to stop people from attacking the server. All servers are a target the moment they tell people they exist.

The DDoS may not have happened without the Reddit post, Chan, but like everyone's saying, this kind of thing happens, and there's no way to know these people wouldn't have come across the server another way and still DDoS'd it.

If Broonie wanted to be completely safe from this, he could take down the site and implement a white list, but Crazy Fools isn't the server it is through being elitist.

exactly, we've also had worse too, like when i managed to get Beebopvox to feature CFUK in his Minecraft Monday's show... that was a hectic week lol
