Here's a few suggestions I feel would improve the market and usability of it, maybe I'm the only one but just some suggestions to consider for a future update..


1. Adding something to identify out of stock items, I went to buy something and it showed it at 150g so I deposited the gold since I couldn't sell anything (below), then came to find out the one item was out of stock and was stuck with all my gold now in the market. Would be nice if it said out of stock on the items.

2. Adding a way to withdraw our gold, or something along the lines. Not sure how this would work, maybe have tax or fees or something on withdrawing it, but I do feel it's a little frustrating having my gold locked in the market with no way to get it back without buying stuff.

3. The biggest issue I have with the market is the fact it's frustrating trying to sell anything in order to buy stuff, at least for me I don't even feel like messing with it.

It feels more like a store with a failed trading section, depositing gold and buying stuff works fine and without issue, but for selling.. it's like trying to sell a used game and the store saying they have nothing to pay me almost every time.

I don't know how this would be fixed other than giving the server a large sum of gold (might happen again in the future though), or just allow the server to sell regardless unless it's for 0 gold etc.. I just feel this could work a little better.


Again, just my opinions on it and something to consider for an update, I'm also interested in what other's think about this and if anyone has anything to add, etc.

I agree with all of it, but one thing I would like to add is (I don't know if this has been implemented) being able to sell non stack able things like doors to the market. Don't know if that would be possible.

I tried buying from the market while working on my ship.
Managed to grab a few stacks of stone for the 5 gold mark. I called it quits though, when it soon reached 25 gold per stack!

Withdraw is disable until a final release, "I don't know" doesn't really prove a solution, I'm not going to inject any money, and people would rather sell than buy.

Could just scale the Buy/sell prices.

How about disabling the sell option until there's a decent amount of gold in the server?

The main problem is the attitude of members using it. Many see it as a way of making money, so will only sell to the market until it has been bled dry. Others will buy from the market, then instantly sell to it in order to maintain their own wealth, and keep the market's gold at zero. Very few simply buy from the market when they need something, and understandably, as they would feel they are loosing out to the others who are exploiting the system.

Unfortunately, there is very little that could be done to the plugin in order to alleviate the problem. The scaling of the buy:sell ratio sounds like a good idea, but people would still get around it by selling more obscure items that still have a tremendous price.

The plugin is very well designed, unfortunately we don't have enough people using it to get it fully working. That, combined with the attitude of those using it, means i can't foresee the market as it is ever really taking off

Unless... taxes. Money taken out of your account and deposited into the server market based on the amount that is sat in your account. This way if you tried to hoard money and keep the market at zero, you would end up contributing more to the market as a result.

Or a tax on something more obscure, like using lockette signs. In order to keep your belongings secure, you have to pay the market. Or you could risk it and go for the "buried treasure" approach.

I don't know, I'm just trying to offer suggestions because there is a lot of potential with our market system, and it seems a shame that it's not fulfilling it.

How about just making the market automatically convert excess goods to money? There's tons and tons of items just sitting there with no real purpose, much more than can be bought. That essentially is a lot of gold, just not readily available as payment.

Another suggestion, as an alternative to all above (including my previous one) could be to do away with gold all together.

What I mean is, why does the servers balance need to be finite? Could the value not be calculated as it is now, but the server's balance be infinite, that way it could always buy.

I know that this would almost certainly lead to people just constantly selling, but would that be worse than the current situation, where any gold is immediately grabbed and no one can sell anything at all?

Also, there could be ways to mitigate the above problem, such as capping the amount of gold or items a person can sell in a day. I think items would be better, that way, a person might be able to make 1,000 gold in a day selling obsidian to the server (and thus, make it easier for others to get obsidian for cheap), but they couldn't make much by spamming the server with cobble or dirt.

Another way would be to cap the amount of an item the server will take in a day, or the amount it will take in total, so once the server has x,xxx,xxx,xxx amount of dirt, it won't accept anymore.

Instead of having infinite gold in the market, as people would assuredly abuse it, why not just make it a completely useless unit of its own? Let's, playingly, call it Crazy Fools Money (CFM). Now, every time someone sells items to the market, they get CFM off of it - CFM is only usable in the market, so there would be no reason to abuse it other than to be able to buy more from the market - which in turn is not a bad thing in itself. By doing this, people won't have to deposit their precious gold, won't have to complain about not being able to retrieve their precious gold again, and generally just be ridiculously hung up in gold.

I've been buying gold from the market constantly. Here's my reasoning;

The less the market has, right, the more it's worth. So, right, if sixty gold bars are worth one block of diamond, and I buy enough gold, that gold will become so valuable, right, then one gold bar will become as valuable as a block of diamond, right! Then, right, I'll just buy up all the diamond at 1 gold per block.

That, folks, is a great mind at work!
