Hi all, I got excited when I saw there was an update (don't we all), so ran it.... nice little red X now next to Crazy fools on my multiplayer server list (1 of 1 on my list BTW)
Did I make a classic newbie error, and I am going to be laughed at? I have only been playing the game for less than two weeks.
Anyway of getting back on? or wait for a new map?
(PS this server was the nicest one I joined when i tried some, the other 2 I tried, I got stabbed within seconds of joining, didnt think that was the best sales pitch)
Kind of. But we don't laugh at people here. Unless they're really funny-looking.
This server is stored in a bucket which can only hold 1.3 litres of minecraft information. Once the bucket gets upgraded to 1.4.2 litres, then you'll be able to play again.
That's my understanding anyway.
Yes. The server must also update to 1.4 before you will be able to play with a 1.4 client. For this, bukkit (the third party server wrapper) must first be updated to 1.4 also, otherwise all the server's protective plugins will stop working.
In future, don't update, or back up your .minecraft/bin folder before updating so you can revert your version for multiplayer if you need to.
I might try the old uninstall etc trick, I downloaded a 2nd install file for back up last week, and just hope it don't re-patch on entry...
fucksticks! that didn't work, I thought it would not anyway..
I use MegaLauncher and/or MCLauncher which allows multiple versions to coexist and also enable/disable plugins (which I haven't really played with so no idea how well it works for that...). The good thing about MCLauncher is that it has a downloader which has a list of versions and downloads them for you. Hope it helps!
Don't worry about it, I did exactely the same thing when 1.3 came out. I reckon the majority of minecrafters would have made this mistake at least once.
