Hey... Is it just me or is The Nether on the Tekkit server completely unplayable due to extreme amounts of lag.
I'm not talking little spurts I'm talking HUGE drops constantly, my FPS on average is 80 - 90 but as soon as I go into the Nether, it starts off at 80 then suddenly drops down to 2 or even freezes completely!
I have a feeling it's because of all the active fires going on and around the "Main Spawn" in The Nether.
Can anything be done about this? Or is it worth, quite literally, setting up 5 Nukes near the entrance and calling it a day?...
Sometimes?! Man, you walk into that place and every other block is on fire! Haha
Needless to say I won't be going to the nether any time soon... Not unless I use the "Cray Titan" ... Very much doubt the folks at Cray Inc would allow me to play Minecraft on that =P
To partially explain it, Tekkits is running on a version of MC that had bad Nether performance.
Bad but it can be managable. It seems to get very bad at times which I think coincide with stuff blowing up. It might be fires but I suspect loose entities and the lag peaks are probably laggy chunks loading.
1.2.5 was a version known to have bad nether performance.
Just as an update I've found it IS the fire animations that are lagging the Nether quite badly.
Easy way around this
Esc>Video Options>Animations>Fire Animation = Off
This puts the FPS at a stable level, granted the fires are static but there are no spikes nor is there NEAR the amount of lag.
Hope this helps people who traverse The Nether! =3
Very useful to know. Thanks!
That will be useful to know HellGriff thanks
Turning the particles setting down to minimal along with the fire animation setting helps in my experience.
(well... that and staring constantly at the floor like an extra in a Blair Witch ripoff...)
