This apology business is in danger of becoming a habit...
Made and placed and ender chest. Opened it. Full of stuff. Freaked out. Closed it.
Searched forums.
*facepalmed*
Chucked chest into recycler.
Sorry about this. Was thinking how to reduce lag by rebuilding my solar factory. Proper foot shot attempt as it turns out...
BTW, is there a list of currently naughty listed items? My google and forum fu is failing me here, as I've found a few different posts but nothing definitive.
I appreciate that Broonie's todo list is pretty horrific so is there something we user types can do to help compile this?

Well i can say some of them here. i agree a list needs to be compiled. Unfortunately for the time being i'm working an awkward shift otherwise i'd write it myself. Here's what i know for now.
Computer Craft
EE
Forcefields
Teleport pipes
Water Strainers
Black Hole Chests
Ender chests/pouches (although craftable and not banned the chests are not private so not exactly a good idea)
Industrial TNT
Nukes
Cataclysm devices
Basic quarry scrap devices using BC pipes (Mainly due to 1. people leaving them on, 2. BC pipes spilling items. These also aren't banned but due to the problems in the first month of tekkit we've found better pipe gens using mining wells and lava)
There may be more that i've forgotten to add.
According to Broonie (in-game chat 3 days ago) anything that can be crafted is not banned, such as teleport pipes, so long as moderation and sense is used with items that can cause cycle lag.
Hopefully he might post something here to clarify the list and the grey areas.

Maybe the position's changed then, I'm sure I was told clearly that enderchests were banned due to bugs. As to what bugs: I couldn't find any when I googled it.
Also I was under the impression that some banned items remained craftable. As I understand it you often can't take the mod out altogether without breaking Tekkit and some objects don't accept configuration well.
Oh and I get that enderchests aren't particularly secure but I'm more thinking of using them for sharing facilities such as making a machine for recharging things, or maintaining a stack of loaves or food cans maybe.
Enderchests definately bugged - not specific to the user, which was why I freaked when I opened then one I'd crafted and saw it full of the shinies. (I was thinking in a similar way to Boriseng but as a way of reducing lag caused by timers/retrievers/tubes for automated crafting supplies)
Well they seemed fine on another server.
Obviously anyone can (and will) access white-white-white though. Maybe some other glitch corrupted the chest contents and it would need resetting before being safe to use.
I suppose I'm always wary of unintended consequences - I was concerned that even crafting or placing blocks could cause a problem. (there's some damned odd bugs in tekkit after all...)
Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated.
Yeah my advice is to mainly use enderchests for machine-to-machine functions and avoid putting really valuable stuff in there. Also make at least one dye a blended one. One big drawback is if someone else can see it they can see the colourcode.
I think you can craft the dusts but not use them. They wouldn't repair tools. Also there's an odd tendency for EE components to be craftable but the actual devices are still banned, so for example you can craft dark matter (yes really) and an iron band but you can't make a black hole band which is a real shame as it'd be nice to have a way to hoover up dropped entities.
Its wierd because I'd have thought the whole mod would be disabled altogether.
ok, it's coded to a really obscure colour combo now; it's worth the risk to be able to build without leaving entities everywhere or having to go back every few mins for supplies ^^
Boris - I think Ender cheasts are banned due to them being buggy on tekkit - thus I wouldn't use them at all.
Incidentally I see Philosopher's stone is still craftable and usable.
If you try to craft a banned item it will appear in the output space but it will vanish when you try to pick it up. It WASN'T REALLY THERE its just that your client (computer) assumes it crafted OK and displays it without checking with the server. You can't work round the ban by clicking really fast or using pipes to extract it because it WASN'T REALLY THERE .
