Am I just being a muppet or is there a problem with the vanilla server?

When I go to the server logon page the server connection thingy just has a red cross through it and it says it is out of date?

Are you maybe running one of the snapshot versions on your client?
Vanilla server is up and perfectly running

umm not as far as I know. I'd definitely count that as muppetry though.

I'll try removing it from the list and adding it again.

Edit: Okay, that didn't work. I tried one of the other servers too and got the same result, so I'm guessing it is a local issue. (I've just got a new net connection, so it might be blocking the connection).

The client clearly said "Server Out Of Date". Its not a connection problem, you must have somehow updated your minecraft in someway. Server is in 1.6.2

Does the launcher update without asking? It says I'm running 1.6.4 but I haven't asked it to update (I've been connected via my mobile for the last week, so I wouldn't waste my data by downloading an update). As far as I was aware 6.2 was the latest anyway :/ now I really am confused.
