Because on FTBu I can't get one to place blocks and I remember they definitely worked in Tekkit as I used one to build two floors of my base.

Fill feature works on FTBmonster. Tested myself a couple of days after the server opened.
You need to attach 1 single piece of conduit to the filler before attaching a power supply though otherwise the power doesn't transfer to the filler.
As for FTBu though yeah the fill feature doesn't work.
2 reasons for this.
#1. They disabled the fill feature due to some bugs while changing from the filler removing blocks from the bottom to removing them from the top.
#2. Server anti grief protection as you can use a filler to place liquid blocks like lava. This can be modified in the configs i believe but i think i read something about it just being shut off due to the bug.
So for FTBu, only the remove function works.
Oh so the BC power rules changed AGAIN!! I knew redstone energy cubes were no longer compatible as MJ is different to RF, and force engines weren't directly connecting to forestry machines as it needed wooden conductive pipe.
Maybe I should forget trying to build up my own land on FTBu and just look for a better island instead.
Do you know anything about the "miner" backfill issue? I expect its due to protection too, only its a nuisance as I keep dropping stuff down the hole by mistake.

Apparently any RF device will power MJ devices but i haven't tested the other way round yet. RS cells still power all of them thankfully but the conduits need to be setup properly.
According to the modders notes, the MJ power will be converted directly to RF during transfer.
I've had somewhat mixed results in SP testing.
I believe the miner backfill may be on the same issue as the filler functions. Not entirely sure about that though.
Well I now have a boxed in area on FTBu but I have nowhere near enough sand or gravel to do it the old way. BC pumps are useless as water sources respawn faster than the pump can clear.
Maybe I'll just have to put up with a dirt "raft" instead.

I probably won't have the materials for that, but if I could borrow one for long enough it would be great.
Otherwise I might just bodge up a sand factory.
10 stacks of sand did the job.
