Re: best co-op game? (Off Topic Discussion) Posted on 20 Mar : 11:39
How easy is it to code a plug-in for our server so we can enjoy co-op goodness?

I've been an aspiring game designer for years smile

Thread: Project Living Earth (Server Discussion) Posted on 17 Mar : 11:06
Hi all!

I have been mulling over a few ideas that I'd like to begin. I have not even started designing yet as I would like to make sure I have a few facts checked before I spend any time on it.

Things I need to check first
  1. Scale. Without looking into the design phase just yet, I would estimate initially a size of the same width as the spawn castle and 2, maybe 3 times as long. The heigh of the 'thing' will probably be the same as the width of the spawn as well
  2. Grief'ing protection. If I spend 3 hours laying blocks down, and some 12yo t$rd decides to knock holes all over it, what restorative measures are there currently?
  3. Does it have to be practical or can it remain non-functional and just pretty to look at?
  4. Time-lapse or live recording of carto - any suggestions? As this is both my first ever project, and my first ever LARGE-scale endeaveour, I'd like to record both live build and the carto output for looking back on in the future and to share smile
  5. Permissions - am I allowed to do this? It won't be in anybody's town, but will be pretty visible from carto. Albeit not in the default view, it will be off to the North a while.

Details I am willing to share
  1. This will be my very first project of any kind that does not involve building a 9x9 African-style mud hut to protect myself between days upon days of diamond hunting.
  2. The nature of the project will remain a mystery, for as long as I would be able to. Obviously, as the thousands of years wade on and the subject persists on, the fog over the river would clear and it would because clear as to what I am doing!
  3. As it rolls on and on, I would probably appreciate some resource collecting assistance, but the building of the thing itself I would like to claim solely myself but thank you in adv. I know you guys are a helpful bunch wink
  4. I am hoping to incorporate it into the existing countryside so that rock, earth and man-placed chunks can co-exist is an amphibious fashion.
  5. I have given not-so-subtle hints in this post as to what I plan on doing! If nobody gets it by the time I start building, and should people care, I am willing to have a bit of a competition with you lot! Whoever can guess it before I reach about 50%, I will donate money to the CF server on your behalf!
Re: Why? (Minecraft General) Posted on 15 Mar : 21:07
...being able to break blocks...
Whaaaaaaat?! Surely not?!

Wouldn't this then mean they can only break basic ones like wood or dirt? Not stone, etc???
Re: Blocks That Matter (Minecraft General) Posted on 15 Mar : 20:58
The chest! You left behind the chest!!

Haha that was gnarly..!

According to the following blog entry (I know, this is from a comment on that page) they acknowledge the influence. Isn't this, like, plagiarism?

Let me present you our new impossible mash-up : Blocks That Matter !

Or as people who has already playtested the game calls it: BTM.
Where B stands for Boulder Dash, T for Tetris and M for Minecraft.
Three games, retro and modern, made of blocks that matter.
