Why don't you guys set up a few donation chests? (using hoppers with locked chests underneath so just you guys can "withdraw" stuff)

The underwater dome is coming along nicely, just a liiiiittle more water clearing to be done.

Someone had the idea to do a Mayan Temple down there and fill in the side areas with jungle bushes/trees, and I think we decided to roll with it.

Floor needs to be replaced with dirt in the corners and stone brick in the middles Also, once all the water is cleared out, the ceiling needs to be patched up and the random stray floating blocks can be cleared.

Just had a look at the project today. Bloody good work guys its looking fantastic! I'd say keep up the good work but that'd be an understatement!

Spin's artistic vision is very nice I think all that's left needing doing is:

1) Finishing the digging and placing of the rail to the Mesa
2) Sprucing up the ground level of the Spawn Station Island (though Time and I prefer Sandstone Station Island, though it's less descriptive of its location)
3) Building a bridge to the island from Spawn.

Hi again - I was away for a day or so and you guys really jet-engined ahead (in a good way)! Very very impressive.

In terms of the list there squip... I've done a little (tiny in comparsison) amount
1) of digging down at the mesa end...
and
3) of sandstone foundation laying out to the lighthouse island, just have to go back and place sand on top (or we could leave it and make people wade through 1-deep water?)

I think I kinda wanna try my hand at the bridge or the upper part of the island, if that's alright I have a vision in my head and hope its good xP

Well, the sprucing up of the island is done. The island is now covered in sandstone... er... slabs would be a word, but not in the item form I think it looks good anyway >.> I welcome anyone to critique my work.

There is a bridge to the island now, making it somewhat easier to access (maybe a bridge from the mainland to the lighthouse wouldn't be a bad idea either, still takes a bit of swimming), though Qatar didn't seem too happy with it. The current rendition might be temporary.

Still digging to the mesa, though progress has been made. And chickens. Underground chickens. Not sure where they came from O-o

I bring you good news CFUKers

The Spawn -> Mesa railway is functional! While not aesthetically complete, it will, for all intents and purposes, take you from point A to point B... or the other way around, if you wish. The trip takes about 2 minutes 20-30 seconds if you want to AFK it while you make a Hot Pocket or something.

Additionally, the rail is long enough that it will get you the achievement "On the Rail". How nice

While I can't say it's a Grand Opening until it /done/ done, you may now use it to reach the Mesa. Thanks to all who have contributed and are still contributing as the rail nears completion!

A side note: Geez, it's been 2 weeks since this thing started. Quite an endeavor, don't you think? xD

I started to work on the wooden tunnel supports in the staircase at the mesa end, but I got a bit confused about the design. I'll take some screenshots to make sure I keep the design like the ones at spawn.

Okay the tunnels from spawn town (entrance near spawn hut) are starting to take shape and you can now ride a horse all the way to the mesa from there, rails and tunnel decoration yet to be finished but it has an automated station minecart dispenser and will drop you off when you arrive and take your cart back into the system to be used by the next person.

pity you didn't have tons of iron, you could make a massive hopper line and set an overflow system for the chests. that way there is always a fresh stock of carts at either end of the track.

I did think about that and if I can get the powered rail spacing right I could simply send back any overfill as empty carts to the other side.

Spin: Do you mean sending carts back along the return-track from the other end? I like the idea of being on a journey out, seeing empty carts go along the opposite track.

The line is very very close to completion, just cosmetic stuff mainly at the mesa end. I just posted some screenies for those that don't want to try it for themselves. Are you mad! The minecart jump on the return journey it worth it in itself.

This is with bright lighting, but I just tried it with moody lighting and it looks even better. Many thanks to all of us that contributed, I was probably more insistent than most at making this a fantastic journey rather than just a 4x4 tunnel of bordom so I am sorry if I may have forced people to do much more than they expected, but I truly think it was worth every hour and the end results speak for themselves.

Definitely one of the coolest rail lines I've rode(aside from some mobs wanting to hitch a ride). Nice job, guys.
