Re: [moved] Admin request (Off Topic Discussion) Posted on 10 Sep : 18:54
UPDATE: - I can edit posts - I was just looking in the wrong place for the appropriate button to edit them confused

So if any posts need updating, changing, or are correct (but need the title changed to reflect the server they are appropriate for), then please let me know and I'll do my best to update the guides wink
Re: [moved] Admin request (Off Topic Discussion) Posted on 08 Sep : 18:18
I've un-stickied all of the guides except the "essential" ones (though they do need updating, but I can't edit them).

If anyone thinks a guide should be stickied again, just reply below and I'll re-sticky it. smile

I personally think the preventing lag stickies should all be re-instated, but they do need a bit of updating. :/

I personally think that guides should not be made stickies unless they are the bare essential ones - especially as we run more than one type of minecraft server. Might be an idea to have a Vanilla guides section to the forum, and a Modified Server Guides section to save confusion :/

Either that, or the title of each guide should start with "Vanilla 1.8 - [guide name]" and "FTB DW20 - [guide name]" to make it easier to find relevant guides wink
Re: Can't run FTB packs again... (Server Discussion) Posted on 29 Aug : 18:33
I just like to be cautious these days, as there are soooo many copy-cat websites out there now offering the same "free" software. Some look pretty authentic too., but the download isn't what you think it is.

I was doing a fresh install a year ago on my netbook and it was getting late so I wasn't paying attention to the websites I was downloading software from. Ended up downloading a dodgy copy of something (can't remember what, think it was a graphic driver), that changed the search engines of IE and Chrome, plus after a few days started randomly popping open IE and loading up random dodgy websites (and each time you closed the window, it opened two more, etc.) Virus checker was wiped off the system and wouldn't install from a USB stick (couldn't access any USB storage devices). Ended up having to wipe it and start again.

I have started a new arena build near-ish the current Vanilla server spawn, but due to "life" getting in the way (a lot), it's difficult to get online right now. I'm going to try and get the main arena built and playable as soon as I can, but may have to leave it to others to host events as my time online is very unpredictable these days (that's having a baby for you!)

FTB was running fine on my last attempt in Windows 10. Have you got both 32 and 64-bit versions of JAVA installed on your new HDD? - I seem to remember reading somewhere that FTB mod packs still only ran on 32-bit JAVA builds, so just a 64-bit pack would not work.

Also, although your CPU is 64-bit, were you runnign a 32-bit version of windows 7? - if so the upgrade to windows 10 may have upgraded most things to 64-bit, but not everything - so a fresh install of Win 10 might be advised.

Also - can you plug both HDD's in (Win 10 and Win 7), or is your system a laptop? If you can plug both in you could set up a boot loader to select which one to boot on start-up (obviously not possible on a laptop unless you have a huge partitioned HDD with a system on each partition).

EDIT: Oh - and you shouldn't have to set up an account to download JAVA - be careful as you may have gone through an unsafe website and got a dodgy download. Use This link to download the auto-selected version of Java for you computer, or try this page if you want a selection of versions to download wink

Sorry Draze - but we didn't want to stick you in a padded cell in case you thought the padding was some weird kind of candy-floss!

Time - perhaps it would be an idea to set a warp to the area, and then mark out the area to be dug out (i.e. you just dig out the boundary, and then put signs in place to say "don't dig out further" (or something like that).

That might help with people that can only commit a little time to digging for you ... but as you know, if a fair number of people all commit a little time each, it'll be done in no time smile

On the mater of materials, you didn't say what you are planning on using - that might help people to start collecting for you wink
