Sure draze, just thought I would offer considering my skill set and background. Security wise giving a linux shell user the ability to run a script that restarts the MC instance is not really a security issue, you could even make it web based and just give access to click a button on an admin screen but in most cases where MC has just crashed thats enough to bring it back to life.

It seems to me that Broonie is heavily relied on to reboot and look after the servers and since it would seem that these Minecraft servers are not his life (or in fact livelihood) it would make sense to have a few volunteer people available to kick the servers if Broonie is not about.

You guys don't know me IRL but in my spare time away from playing Minecraft I own and run a UK web hosting company called ServWise (www.servwise.com) so you could say I have a little experience with server administration. I've also created my own MC servers for my own use and so am least capable of restarting MC at very least.

I would happily offer my services voluntarily should Broonie wish to entrust access to a third-party and since I spend my working day monitoring and dealing with servers I am maybe more available than Broonie might be.

Broonie if you are interested in some assistance please pm me. I would be happy to help..

I just thought, I think it would be awesome to start a new world with vanilla UHC settings on, death counters and nothing available from old worlds, no prebuilt spawn and so we have to start from scratch. Make a launch event (email all members so they don't miss it) and just see how it evolves, there will be lots of collaboration to survive and if we limit the map size to say 2k x 2k for the first few months people will have to build and remain fairly local to spawn at least for a while.

I think the last map reset was a little premature we still had plenty of usage left on the old map, the spawn had been moved and that boosted things so another spawn move would have been fine, also at the time I thought why do a reset now when the horse update was on its way and it would be better to wait for that. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Personally I would like to see a map reset sooner rather than later simply to bring in the new horse aspect throughout the map, I agree it would be good to really limit the map size at the beginning and expand it as new updates come out that need newly generated areas for them to spawn in.

I wouldn't call myself a builder, I love exploring and tend to head straight for unexplored areas but once not much is left to explore I find a spot and build, build. build or look for projects at spawn like my firework tower at last spawn.. For this spawn I hardly know what it looks like as I have not been interested in it as I had my bases back at old world and simply wanted to find horses.

On the subject of lag on vanilla, the new update seems to have introduced a lot of new bugs.

1. boats are broke, you can't go for long without the world stops loading. If you exit the boat the world loads fine.

2. horses are laggy as hell especially if you go into anywhere with trees, fine if on foot

3. lots and lots of random disconnects (no such problem on ftb) so assuming its the update not my connection.

Alternative would be if I could give you some xyz coords and you could create a few warps to at least get to some of our stuff and set our own warps when we reach there?

All my warps have vanished on previous vanilla world, I had loads and draze has said the same has happened to him, any chance to get them back? I had a number of large projects spread far apart I would like to get back too.

Ad, I am not complaining about it really, I just don't think it is the best policy in FTB and wanted to bring it up for discussion.

The shield mod after messing about with it in creative allows you to do a number of things, make a visible shield that stops you entering without killing anyone but you can also have no shield at all and just have a defence station which uses an invisible zone and can be set to simply kill immediately and take all the persons inventory. If you bury it or cover it in Lava (:-p) then you'd never know it was there.

The decision to have the nether as no rules was based on vanila MC and not what you can do in FTB and so I think maybe new rules for FTB would be a good thing especially since the nether has so much more to offer with all the new ores. Rules on how a player can intentionally pvp someone, maybe it has to be 1 on 1 or using vanila tactics. Thats my opinion and obviously I have no say in the matter so if the rule stays then watch out as I already have a technique to bypass MFFS so there is no chance for you, 3:-] (evil laugh effect)
