Re: conathan's engines are going to explode in 5-10 min. Selling tickets (Server Discussion) Posted on 11 Nov : 18:38
I've ran them straight for a couple hrs no problem, but when unloaded it's like they continue to work (but the water pump I had does not function unloaded)

yeah, the hole is new. I repaired them again (9th time?), and cried.
Thread: conathan's engines are going to explode in 5-10 min. Selling tickets (Server Discussion) Posted on 10 Nov : 22:20
Been using fuel and Combustion Engines to power my quarry (My Automatic cutoff system), and unfortunately my cooling system stops pumping in water when the chunk is unloaded (but they continue to heatup)

If anyone's feeling generous, warp to conathan, go out back, and turn off the engines. (Client crashed, and unable to login.)

On the other hand, has anyone found a way to ensure combustion engines do not explode if in a unloaded chunk?

Attached is a simulation of what happens.

Re: Problems logging into minecraft using java on linux? (Minecraft General) Posted on 13 Sep : 00:57
Michael_Scott has won 2 points. Note: Points have no value.

There's at least one more minecrafter with this problem on another thread (I think they went from openjdk to sunjdk though). so I thought if there's two (me and the other one), there could be more.
Thread: Problems logging into minecraft using java on linux? (Minecraft General) Posted on 09 Sep : 22:47
been having some problems myself getting connected (Kept saying unable to connect to minecraft.net), and from http://www.crazy-fools.co.uk/p/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?28901 it looks like it's a problem with OpenJDK.

I found a fix online,
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/jdk/jre/lib/amd64/
(I have java installed in /opt/jdk, so this will have to be modified depending on where you have java installed)

Otherwise, using Oracle's java sounds like it works too.
Re: First house (Minecraft General) Posted on 08 Sep : 16:33
Don't quite recall single player, when me and bcman (My brother, he hasn't been online for a year or two) started, I usually picked the side of a cave (By the water). he did a large dirt house, and later had a few paths in the top of a mountain.

As for MultiPlayer, CFUK was at the top of the server list, and gave it a try. I think it was the 2nd map I started building on (1st one had broonie's house [i], in the middle of a tiny lake). It had Mine City, but I went down by the water and built in a 6 block high hill, and expanded to build underwater. (There was a large pyramid that went as high as possible in those days as well by other members). BCMan built tower city in the same area, so eventually I did build a spleef tower (Rebuilt that a couple times on later maps, but afaik, never used it).

No pictures from that era, unfortunately. (Although I have some of my resort, competing with Frozen Peaks, a map or two after (2nd picture is the basement of the first picture)

In the meantime, Discharge has an archived copy of the Live Map. May be slightly out of date http://eh392.user.srcf.net/minecraft/CartographRenderer.swf
Re: The CF|UK "Did you know" thread (Some History) (Server Discussion) Posted on 09 Aug : 23:45
When I first started, there were no mobs, and no health. A friend named funylilman helped me get started. Spawn was Broonie's house (with no way to enter), surrounded in water, and a obsidian sign (might have been bedrock).

The first year I was playing, in November, there was the Haloween Update which included the nether (no way to get there in multiplayer though).

You could store things in your 2x2 crafting square, great for extra inventory space

I can vouch for needing a lit furnace to smelt (Things disappeared if you didn't watch it as well).

Without health, if you fell into the void, you fell forever.

I think mobs were invulnerable when they were first introduced.

The 2nd map was one I was more involved in. We had minecity, towercity (my brother ran that one). I built underwater, and had a house near the water. There was a giant piramid that took a long time to build (I was not part of that effort, but I visited).
